Wildlife and Biodiversity

Wildlife in Peril

Sir David Attenborough

One of the largest threats to wildlife and biodiversity is climate change that is experienced globallyly.
Most of the species are finding it difficult to adjust to the fast changing temperatures and habitat.

Below is a list of 4 species ranked from highest likelihood of extinction down.
I hope this makes the reader aware of the risks this planet faces.

  1. Coral Reefs: Warming of the oceans also causes coral bleaching which may cause an entire reef ecosystem to die.
  2. Sea Turtles: Rising sea levels are flooding nesting beaches, and an increase in temperatures can influence the sex ratios of the hatchlings.
  3. Migratory Birds: Changing seasons and food availability are disrupting the timing and success of migrations.
  4. Polar Bears: Due to the loss of sea ice, it is becoming progressively harder to feed and raise young polar bears.

Protecting Our Biodiversity

Protecting and restoring natural habitats like forests, wetlands, and oceans can help wildlife adapt to climate change and also help capture carbon from the atmosphere.
